Veera Vasantharayar Mandapam(Sree Meenakshi Temple)





Going east from this tower,we come to a big mandapam with forty six pillars.This is called the Veeravasantharayar mandapam after it builder Muthuveerappa naicker elder brother of Thirumalai Naick.

Facing the idol of Lord sundareswarar' this is a of Nandhi,(bull) Lord Siva's conveyance.

There is a tell arch of lights in this mandapam.Thi wa donated by the Maruthu Pandyas,the lights are being maintained by the Sivaganga Devathanam.



There are fancy shops on both sides of this mandapam.

On some of the pillars in this mandapam .we find scenes depicting Lord Siva as the killer of the God of Death for saving Markandeya, a hunter carrying his wife on his shoulders ,majestic pose of Lord Siva ,dancing Badrakali and Dwarabalagas.
